Commissions Specialist - Chicago, IL

Summary: Ensures the accuracy and reliability of data related to tracking, reporting & auditing of company commissions for Health, Ancillary, Consumer Driven Health Plans (CDHP) and Compliance Products. Also compiles, processes, and distributes the commission payments and statements to internal sales consultants, outside brokers and various associations. Provide occasional back-up support for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Invoicing, and Collections.
 
Key responsibilities include:
 
  • You will perform insurance carrier audits of book of business and commissions for Health & Ancillary and verify payments meet contracts. Research discrepancies and contact carriers to resolve any commission issues.
  • Use Quickbooks to do posting, uploads, and daily commission recording. Match commission statements to check or ACH payments received.
  • Process and distribute commission payments and statements.
  • Regularly downloads all electronic commission statements from carrier’s websites.
  • Take calls and email to answer broker questions regarding commission questions as well as respond to internal Sales Consultants questions on commissions.
  • Run reports on commission variances and research and resolve reasons for variances.
  • Run and analyze other regular reporting
  • Provide A/P, A/R, invoice, and collections support as needed and directed.
 
Requirements include:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree. Or five plus related years of experience.
  • 3-5 years’ Accounting experience performing general accounting and commissions duties that require  strong analytical, reporting, and auditing skills with access to confidential information.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs) and Access (table creation, import, export)
  • One year experience with contract reviews.
  • Health insurance carrier experience desired.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and detail in data entry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a service-oriented mindset
  • Previous experience working with QuickBooks is a plus
